Redmond High JROTC Awards Celebrate Annual Achievements
Redmond, Ore –Redmond High School JROTC students received awards in more than 19 categories last Friday, May 17, at the fifth annual awards night.
The RHS JROTC is comprised of 70 students and is the only Marine Corps JROTC unit in the state of Oregon. The RHS unit is active in the community and volunteers in countless events to raise funds and awareness for JROTC.
Cadets were honored for their community service, leadership, patriotism and adherence to Marine Corps values, among many other traits. Five graduating senior cadets were honored with scholarships from organizations such as the Marine Corps League, Central Oregon Detachment #1308 and the Orient of Oregon. After the ceremony, the unit’s drill team performed a routine for the attendees.
“I am very proud of the accomplishments of every cadet in JROTC,” shared Mike Trammel, MGySgt, JROTC Instructor. “I get to know these kids pretty well through traveling with the competitive teams, community service, and classroom academics. I cannot emphasize how much they do as a team and how truly giving these students are; I wish I could give them all an award.”
