Ridgeview High School Band takes 4A State Championship
Redmond, Ore –Ridgeview High School’s 46 student ensemble band took the Oregon State 4A Band Championship last week in Corvallis, Ore.
The Ridgeview High School band was one of ten 4A schools that qualified to compete at the state championships held at the LaSells Stewart Center. This is the first time a band from Redmond has earned any placing at the state level.
Bands were judged on quality of sound, technique and musicianship. The bands also compete in sight reading, in which the band is presented with a new piece of music and given seven minutes to compose a performance. Ridgeview took first in this portion of the competition as well.
Ridgeview High does not have a senior class this year and nearly 85% of the band are freshman students. The band has worked tirelessly in the last school year in preparing for this competition.
“I am so proud of our students,” shared Dave Sime, RVHS Band Director. “Our goal was to make sure that they would walk off the stage knowing that they performed their best. This is an accomplishment they can be proud about for their entire life.”
The RVHS band will have one final performance before the end of the school year. The Spring Concert will be held on Thursday, May 30 at Ridgeview High School. For questions or more information, please contact the school during school hours at 541-504-3600.
