Redmond School District has announced that the Heart of Oregon Corps (HOC) YouthBuild and Stewardship programs will be transitioning operations out of the Edwin Brown Education Center facility this fall. Both programs have been housed on the Edwin Brown campus for five years. Due to growing needs of the district and limitation of space for both partners, the programs will be moving to a new operational home. The Edwin Brown Education Center currently hosts off campus behavioral programs for students in kindergarten through tenth grade, a transition program for students ages 18-21, and the district’s expulsion program.
“Services for the young people in Heart of Oregon Corps programs will continue uninterrupted by these changes,” shared Laura Handy, Executive Director of Heart of Oregon Corps. “We greatly appreciate the support Redmond School District has lent to our programs over many years of partnership”
The Stewardship Program will be transitioned to the HOC Bend office. In addition, HOC is finalizing a new location at Cloverdale for YouthBuild in partnership with Sisters School District. HOC will provide needed transportation for all young adults in the YouthBuild program.
Superintendent Mike McIntosh shared, “Redmond School District is thankful for the continued partnership with Heart of Oregon Corps. We are thankful for their flexibility and look forward to their new YouthBuild location.”
