Redmond High marksmanship team places 7th in nation

The Redmond High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) Olympic Style Precision Markmanship Team recently placed seventh in the nation during the national MCJROTC Markmanship competition in Las Vegas, Nev.

Redmond High’s team is led by retired Lieutenant Colonel Doug Seal and retired Master Gunnery Sergeant Mike Trammel, both of the United States Marine Corps.

“The kids were motivated and self directed,” Seal said. “They all felt that they could have done better even though they had a high national placement, so they are looking forward to performing even better next year. They should all be tremendously proud of their seventh place finish as it’s something most MCJROTC programs never accomplish.”

Marksmanship teams participated in the national competition from all over the United States. Each team also had to qualify for the National Competition.

Redmond High was represented by MCJROTC students senior Destiny Ambrose (Team Captain), senior Tim Berry, junior Riley Boehlke, senior Grant Ely and sophomore Curtis Berry.

Redmond High’s MCJROTC program currently has over 100 cadets.
