Redmond resident Tom Linhares was appointed to the Redmond School District Budget Committee during the district’s Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 school board meeting.
The budget committee is comprised of all five school board members and five appointed budget committee members. The function of the committee is to serve a fiscal planning advisory role and to support the district in establishing priorities and best allocating resources.
Linhares has over 30 years experience working in Oregon’s local government finance system including 17 years as the Columbia County Assessor and nine years as the executive director of the Multnomah County Tax Supervising and Conservation Commission. In 2014, he served as the interim director of assessment and taxation for Wasco County and in 2015, served as the chief lobbyist for the Oregon State Association of County Assessors.
The committee will begin meeting and deliberating on the 2018-19 district budget during winter 2018.
