The Ridgeview High School Performing Arts Department has scheduled eight performances of “The Sound of Music” beginning on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018.
“The musical tells the story of the Von Trapp family in 1938 Austria and how they deal with loyalty, love, laughter and leaving their homeland,” director and teacher Jerry Capson said. “It’s a comedy, a romance and a historical representation about patriotism and loyalty all rolled into one.”
Senior Kaylee Keininger plays the role of Maria Von Trapp; junior Ryan Schultz plays Captain Von Trapp and senior Carly King plays Mother Abbess.
Capson is directing the production, with Nathan Gosselin-Sebens directing the vocal music and Jamie Gregory conducting the orchestra.
Evening performances will occur Feb. 15-17 and again from Feb. 22-24 at 7 p.m. Two matinees are scheduled for Feb. 17 and Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. All performances will take place in the Performing Arts Theater at Ridgeview High School.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors (60 years of age and older), $5 for students (grades 6-12) and $3 for children (grades 5 and younger).
