December 8 – After School Activities Canceled

Good morning Redmond School District Families,

Due to today’s snowfall and inclement weather, all after-school activities and events will be canceled. We are following the weather very closely and are working with our partners at ODOT and Redmond Police Department to determine a plan for tomorrow. Once a decision has been made regarding school delays or closures we will communicate that to families immediately through our automated phone system, website and social media.

RSD will continue with regular daytime operations through the remainder of the school day. School buses will run on their regular schedules and buildings will remain open until all students have left for the day. Parents are welcome to pick up students at any point during the school day.

As a reminder, you can receive text alerts from Redmond School District regarding inclement weather delays or closures by texting “YES” to the number 67587.  Please note, it may take up to 48 hours for texts to begin so please follow our website, Facebook and Twitter for updates.

Thank you and please be safe.

School in Session – Tumalo Community School – December 6th

Good evening Tumalo Community School families,

This weekend, Laidlaw Water District experienced a leak in their main line. Although the leak was not in our school building, we want to ensure that the water is safe for students and staff members. With this in mind, Laidlaw has collected water samples to be tested and we expect results back early tomorrow.

In the meantime, school will be in regular session tomorrow, Tuesday, December 6th. We’ve made special arrangements to provide bottled water, courtesy of Earth2O, for students and staff. Bathroom facilities will be usable, however, water faucets and drinking fountains will not be in working order. There will be alternate hand washing options for students and staff members to use. A modified menu will be served for both breakfast and lunch which will include only wrapped or packaged meal items and produce that does not require washing.

These precautions will be in place until test results arrive and our water is deemed safe. Tests are due back tomorrow morning. We will be in touch with you to share the news of …

Team Spotlight – Kristi Messner

Kristi Messner teaches 1st grade at Terrebonne Community School. Kristi has dedicated her entire teaching career to Redmond School District, having served 38 years with RSD! We are honored to feature Kristi as this month’s Team Spotlight!

How long have you been working for Redmond School District and what did you do before coming here?

I imagine I am, or close to the longest, employed RSD teacher! This year puts me well over three decades! Where did the time go?

When I was a senior in college I received a job offer from another district and was waiting for the contract to come in the mail. But as fate would have it a Redmond administrator called to set up an interview. It was my dream job. I was offered a position as a First Grade Individualized Learning Center teacher at Brown Elementary. I quickly sent the other district a sincere apology and an unsigned contract. I have been a part of the RSD district ever since!

What do you enjoy most or find most rewarding about your role?
