Last week, we announced in a newsletter to families that students in grades 6-12 would not be in school on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, due to an all-staff health and safety training occuring in each school building. This training was in anticipation of increasing the amount of students we planned to bring into school buildings for Limited In-Person Instruction.
However, after reviewing Deschutes County’s latest COVID-19 numbers, the district will not increase the number of students receiving on-site instruction at this time. Therefore, the training will be delayed until COVID-19 cases decline and teachers are able to work in safer conditions.
As a result, classes will take place as originally scheduled on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8. There will be no school for secondary students on Dec. 9. The teacher grading day on Dec. 4 will also take place as originally scheduled.
We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this causes. As metrics continue to change, we have to make decisions quickly. Staff and student safety is our top priority, and we will delay this training until …
